Intrepid Wellness 365 (IW365) is a membership program for equestrians designed to help you get fit to ride, develop a resilient and calm mindset, and learn the best horse management practices to keep your horse sound and performing well. Developed by Shelley Thomas, a physical therapist (for horses and humans) and life-long equestrian, IW365 mission is to help you safely train youself and your horse for performance.
What does preparation work look like?
Learning, Listening, Planning, and Taking Action
When you apply best practices to your horse management program and learn to improve your body alignment and strength, your confidence with your horse will skyrocket. You will improve your communication with your horse, understand how they are feeling and if something is too difficult for them, and have fun asking them "what do you need from me?" You'll also establish a system to catch soundness issues early so you can keep working towards your performance goals.
Monthly Workouts Modules
This workout program is delivered via 10-30 minute modules. Each module has a primary goal: strength, cardio, flexibility, endurance, alignment, or balance. Depending on how much time you have and your training goals, you can grab the modules that work for you. The workouts can be done with basic equipment. The exercises target muscles you need to improve your riding and get fit to work in the barn.
Form Videos & Workout App
Every workout has form videos. I give you modifications you can do if you’re building up to the full movement, as well as equipment modifications. The workouts are delivered inside Physiotec. You can download the app to your phone and have easy access to each workout without wasting time trying to find files or download programs.
Suggested Calendar
This program is a 4-day a week program, and several days are only 10-20 minutes long. I designed it that way to make it easy to fit in your busy schedule. You can adjust the calendar as needed and combine workouts. You’ll still get great results if you workout less days per week and just move things around as needed.
Exercises for your Horse
Each month, you get a set of exercises to do with your horse to improve their posture, core strength, proprioception, and neuromuscular control. They are a combination of ground and ridden exercises and can be applied to any discipline. You receive a thorough explanation of why the exercise works and when to use it with your horse.
Challenges & Deep Dives
Inside IW365 there will be regular challenges (with prizes!) and deep dive groups, such as hip mobility and core strength, healthy eating, or learning how to use cavaletti and ground poles effectively. IW365 members can participate in these groups for free - it's included with your membership.
Education & Coaching Calls
Each month there is a coaching call covering various fitness, mindset, and performance management topics. You can join the zoom call live to ask questions, or listen later. The replay is always available. This is also a great time to ask Shelley any pressing questions you have related to rider fitness, recovery from injuries, your horse's program, or training program design. You can ask to be the “hot seat” rider where we dive into your situation on the coaching call. It’s a great way to get some 1:1 coaching help.
Guest Interviews
Each month, Shelley will interview someone she feels is an expert in the horse/rider wellness arena or riders who have incorporated wellness into their training programs successfully. It's fun to learn what's worked for other people. We are all different, so listening to a variety of perspectives and techniques might give you a brilliant idea that works for you!

Hi, I'm Shelley
I’m excited about working with you in IW365. I’d like to start by sharing a little about myself.
My business, Intrepid Wellness, focuses on performance and physical therapy services for horses and riders. I work with equestrian athletes with the goal of helping horses and riders move, feel and perform better. I'm passionate about helping you learn how to keep your horse sound, improve your body control and alignment, get a confident mindset, and train your horse with compassion.
I have been treating people for 24 years and treating horses for 7 years. I have a very busy practice and treat about 100 horses and work with dozens of riders in my online programs each month. This volume has helped me figure out what works best to help both the equine and human athletes. I have extensive experience in manual therapy, rehab and exercise program design, horse and rider biomechanics, and helping riders monitor their horses' soundness and comfort.
I am also a rider and competitor. I’ve ridden through the preliminary level in eventing, up to 4th level dressage, and spent several years pursuing goals in the show jumping arena. I’ve worked for top level riders, managed barns, run my own horse business, and had enough experience to say I’ve done a lot wrong, learned many lessons, and like to think I’m working smarter nowadays. But of course, it’s horses, so the learning will never be done!

Shelley's been a physical therapist for 20+ years with extensive experience working with athletes, helping people recover from injuries, and keeping the aging athlete in the game! Shelley also has a bachelor’s degree in psychology and has applied this knowledge in her clinical practice to help people achieve their goals. It’s all brought together because Shelley is a horse person and rider and knows what’s needed to be successful in equestrian sports.
When you work with Shelley, you don’t need to hire six different people. You can create an effective training program with just two coaches: Shelley to help you with your physical and mental training, and your riding coach to help you with your skills on the horse.
IW365 helps you improve your strength, body alignment, and balance. It also helps you learn how to monitor your horse's soundness and how they are handling their workload. You'll learn how to listen to your horse and catch clues early if they are uncomfortable. This program also helps you develop a quiet, calm, resilient mindset which is very much needed when you work with horses!
No. You have access to the content while enrolled in IW365, but if you discontinue your membership, you will lose access.
IW365 is designed to help equestians who want to be work on themselves (fitness, body alignment, mindset) and want to learn how to design safe, effective training programs for your horse.
It is designed for 15+ years old.
IW365 requires minimal equipment. When you enroll you will receive a suggested equpment list. Dumbbells, a physioball, and a resistance band is all that is required.
Workouts, horse exercises, and mindset exercises are released the first of each month.
Throughout the month there are short coaching calls in the WhatsApp group. There is a more formal group coaching session held via Zoom each month for an in-depth training and case study review.
Guest interviews will be housed in the Facebook group and membership portal (in case you aren't in the Facebook group).
